I got a chance to see most of the Gaudi sites on three different visits to Barcelona over the years, some with guided tours and some with audio guides.
Going inside Gaudi’s masterpieces to see the interior is an experience you don’t want to miss. It really feels like you enter into a fantasy world.
To help you choose, plan, and prioritise what Gaudi tours to take in Barcelona, I created this guide that covers the most popular options.

Gaudi tours in Barcelona: what’s included?
When picking Gaudi tours in Barcelona, stay realistic about how much you can see in a day.
You’ll most likely see two or three attractions in one day.
More than that would be a bit much. I think when it comes to Gaudí’s beautiful and sophisticated creations, there’s no point in rushing. You want to be able to take in the experience.
The most popular Gaudi creations in Barcelona

Park Guell – a whimsical public park featuring colourful mosaics, winding pathways, and panoramic views over Barcelona.
Sagrada Familia – Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece basilica with extraordinary architecture combining Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, famous for its towering spires and intricate facades.
Casa Batllo – a fantastical building with a dragon-like roof, an incredible facade, and stunning interior spaces filled with organic forms and coloured glass.
Casa Mila (La Pedrera) – a striking apartment building with a wavy stone facade, innovative architecture, and a rooftop terrace with surreal chimneys.
Casa Vicens – Gaudí’s first major work, a vibrant Orientalist-inspired house covered in colourful, decorative tiles.
Palau Güell – a mansion showcasing Gaudí’s early genius with its impressive central dome, and rooftop chimneys covered in broken ceramics.
Because you can’t see everything on one single tour, Gaudí sightseeing in Barcelona takes a bit of planning. I’ll explain the best way to plan it in this guide.
How to plan your Gaudí sightseeing in Barcelona
My recommendation is to see Sagrada Familia and Park Güell in one day. You can add Casa Vicens if you make it a long, time-efficient day of sight seeing.
On a different day, see inside Casa Batllo and Casa Mila. They’re very close to each other.
Palau Güell is certainly worth a visit, if you have an extra day.
This way you’ll easily get a pretty comprehensive Gaudí experience covering all the highlights without exhausting yourself.
Selected Gaudí tours in Barcelona
Sagrada Familia and Park Güell
For Park Guell and Sagrada Familia, it’s better to take a tour with a guide who can show you around and answer questions.
The fast track entry to all of these attractions will save you a lot of time. It’s essential, especially in high season.
Park Güell is a little bit outside the city centre, so a tour with transport will also save you time and energy.
Sagrada Familia and Park Güell tour
The Sagrada Familia and Park Güell tour is a structured, guided experience with context, stories, and anecdotes.
It’s a good fit for first-time visitors or for anyone who wants an efficient way to see both attractions in half a day.
You’ll tour with an informative, engaging guide who’ll add extra historical background and fun facts.
This tour has flexible free cancellation and language options.
Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, plus Casa Vicens or Casa Batlló
You can add an extra attraction on the same day with a the Discover Gaudí tour.
The afternoon tour includes a guided visit of Casa Vicens. The morning tour includes Casa Batlló.
I suggest you pick the afternoon option, because it’s best to visit Casa Batlló on a separate day, so you can see everything, including the roof. It has its own excellent multimedia guide.
However, if you have very little time in Barcelona and don’t have a separate day for Casa Batlló, then opt for the morning tour. There’s more to see at Casa Batlló than at Casa Vicens.
This tour is time-efficient. It lets you see three gorgeous Gaudí creations in half a day without logistical hassle.
You’ll tour them with a knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging guide.
This tour includes pre-reserved tickets, skip-the-line entry, and transfers between the sites. Free cancellation (up to 24 hours in advance) in case your plans change.
Casa Batllo and Casa Mila
I grouped Casa Batllo and Casa Mila together because they’re very close to each other on the same street.
You can easily visit both in one day.
They both offer self-guided tours with an audio/multimedia guide, so you can explore them independently at your own pace.
Casa Batllo
Casa Batllo is a super popular Gaudi masterpiece and you can see it on a self-guided tour.
It’s the kind of eye-catching building that makes people stop and stare in the middle of the street.
When you go inside, every corner of this magnificent house showcases incredible creativity and imagination.
You want to book ahead for this house, as it’s a popular attraction and you’ll need tickets with a time slot.
Your ticket options include Blue, Silver, and Gold levels. I’d suggest going for Gold or Silver tickets since these come with the multimedia guide. You’ll miss out on the full experience without it.
I went for the Gold ticket and enjoyed every moment of the experience.
Casa Mila
Nicknamed “La Pedrera” (The Quarry) because of its curving stone façade, this peculiar building really stands out.
It’s famous for its unusual chimneys on the rooftop terrace and for Gaudí’s innovative architecture.
Visit inside the building on a self-guided tour with an audio guide, included in the ticket price.
The audio guide gives you a well planned and organised tour through the building.
Palau Güell
Palau Güellis a bit of a hidden gem, or at least a less popular Gaudí attraction in Barcelona, though I can’t see why.
It’s centrally located, just off Las Ramblas, so you can add it to your itinerary when you hang out in that part of Barcelona.
You can easily see Palau Güell with an audio guide at your own pace. It’s included in the ticket price and gives you the complete history of the house.
I took that self-guided tour with the audio guide and enjoyed it. It’s quite different to Casa Batllo or Casa Mila, but full of creativity and elegance as well.
Gaudí designed this house for an affluent family, meticulously crafting every element.
Gaudí tours in Barcelona: guided or self-guided?
For Sagrada Familia and Park Güell it’s easier and more convenient to take a guided tour.
This is not just because of the knowledgeable guide, but also to save time with pre-booked skip-the-line tickets and transfers that are included in the tour price.
For Casa Batllo, Casa Mila, Casa Vicens, and Palau Güell, in my experience, you can take a self-guided tour with their audio/multimedia guides.
They will help lower the cost of this Gaudi adventure in Barcelona.
I enjoyed exploring these houses at my own pace, without rushing. I took my time, explored patiently, and took many photos.
My tips on taking Gaudí tours in Barcelona
- Book early because tickets for the famous sites can sell out.
- Wear comfortable shoes, especially for your Sagrada Familia and Park Güell tour, as there’s quite a bit of walking.
- Dress appropriately for Sagrada Familia: avoid tank tops, strapless shirts, short shorts, and sandals/flip flops.
- Expect security checks at some major Gaudí attractions.
- If you just want to get a general idea of some of Gaudi’s best work, join the free Gaudi tour and see the exteriors of some of the main highlights. without going inside.

I love Barcelona and Gaudi’s architecture. I visited Barcelona back in 2002 and saw all his works, however I didn’t see Casa Mila and Casa Vicens from the inside.
I love Barcelona — wandering along Passeig de Gràcia with its exquisite buildings, and discovering Gaudí’s architectural masterpieces scattered throughout the city. I’d love to return when the Sagrada Família is finally completed.
This is a great tip for first-timers. I thought it was only the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. Apparently, Gaudi has created more beauty in Barcelona.
